Medicine’s Supply to World Bank Tender

Medicine’s Supply to World Bank Tender

In April 2014 Export Department had a huge challenge, to participate in the recently launched tender by the Ministry of Health of Angola, funded by the World Bank.

This Tender was composed of three different Lots for medicines’, clinical laboratory equipment’s and consumables’ supply. It had to be a fast and demanding search for solutions outside Portugal. It was in this sense that we have allocated the sourcing of medicines to the procurement team in India, which allowed Australpharma to respond to all the items at competitive prices, fulfilling all the requirements for participation.

It was with great satisfaction that in December we have received notice of award of the Medicines’ Lot which is, beyond doubt, the most representative in volume and value of the whole tender. This award represents for Quilaban during the present year an additional turnover of around € 1,223 K. Signed the contract between Australpharma and the contracting entity, began the laborious process underlying this award. Ninety days is the time that we have to deliver the products to their final destination in Angola and, therefore, every day is important. Eleven Indian origin suppliers and one European supplier. Twelve purchase orders. Fifty four products in total, fifty of which required translations of cartons, labeling and package leaflets. At the time, we are actively working on the lengthy and rigorous process of scientific content validation and review of product artworks and, together with Quilaban Pharma Trading, the endeavor of all the logistical details associated. This is expected to be the largest shipping in number of containers ever made by Quilaban.
