The September edition of Quilaban Academy brought together over 50 clients and experts, in partnership with Becton Dickinson, to reflect on innovation and best practices in the diagnosis of bloodstream infections.

In September, Quilaban held another edition of the Quilaban Academy, in collaboration with Becton Dickinson (BD), the company’s partner for more than 30 years. The session brought together over 50 clients who actively participated in an afternoon dedicated to the topic of Blood Stream Infections (BSI).

The programme featured presentations from leading experts. Cristina Casares, Medical Affairs Manager at BD Iberia, highlighted the multidisciplinary approach to BSI detection and the reduction of turnaround times through satellite laboratories. Yolanda Gonzalo, Senior Marketing Manager at BD Iberia, emphasised the importance of good sampling practices, while Enrique Rodríguez, Product Manager BSI at BD Iberia, discussed the role of information management in the diagnostic process. The clinical and laboratory perspective was shared by Professor Paulo Paixão, who reinforced blood culture as the gold standard in diagnosis.

Through this edition, Quilaban Academy reaffirms its commitment to creating opportunities for multidisciplinary knowledge-sharing and to promoting scientific innovation among healthcare professionals. The initiative reflects our values and strengthens the company’s role as a trusted partner in clinical diagnostics in Portugal.
