Quilaban promotes clinical session on immune response to Cytomegalovirus in transplant patients

The initiative, held in partnership with ULS de São José, brought together healthcare professionals to share clinical and laboratory experiences in the assessment and monitoring of Cytomegalovirus.

Quilaban held its first clinical session of the year dedicated to QIAGEN’s QuantiFERON® CMV* test, bringing together healthcare professionals from ULS de São José for knowledge sharing focused on the clinical application of this innovative solution, which enables the diagnosis and monitoring of Cytomegalovirus (CMV).

Under the theme “CMV Clinical Insights”, the session’s main objective was to reinforce the advantages of using the test through the presentation of real cases, discussion on the definition of test groups and promotion of its use in a clinical context. The meeting featured the participation of a physician, who addressed the types of patients eligible for testing and the guidelines used in defining groups, as well as a laboratory technician, who shared the practical experience of using the test on LIAISON® equipment.

QuantiFERON® CMV is an in vitro diagnostic test that assesses specific cellular immune response against Cytomegalovirus (CMV) by measuring interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) release by T lymphocytes. Its application is particularly relevant in transplant and immunocompromised patients, enabling support for risk stratification of virus reactivation, post-transplant monitoring and decision-making on the initiation, maintenance or discontinuation of antiviral therapy.

The integration of this solution into the clinical practice of ULS de São José may represent an important step towards a more personalised and innovative approach to transplant patient management, reinforcing Quilaban’s commitment to proximity with healthcare professionals and the promotion of differentiating solutions in the diagnostics field.
