QIAstat-Dx panels strengthen rapid response to sepsis-associated infections

Quilaban

Together, the two QIAGEN QIAstat-Dx solutions enable identification, in approximately one hour, of 33 pathogenic agents and 28 antimicrobial resistance markers from positive blood cultures.

The speed of identification of microorganisms responsible for bloodstream infections is particularly important in critical situations such as sepsis, enabling relevant information to be provided earlier to support therapeutic decision-making.

In this context, Quilaban now provides in Portugal more comprehensive molecular coverage through the QIAstat-Dx BCID GPF Plus AMR and QIAstat-Dx BCID GN Plus AMR panels, developed by QIAGEN for the analysis of bloodstream infections.

Complementary to each other, the QIAstat-Dx BCID GPF Plus AMR enables identification of 20 Gram-positive and fungal pathogenic agents and 10 antimicrobial resistance markers, while the QIAstat-Dx BCID GN Plus AMR extends the analysis to the main Gram-negative agents and their respective resistance mechanisms.

In total, the two panels enable identification of 33 pathogenic agents and 28 antimicrobial resistance markers in approximately one hour, contributing to faster characterisation of infection and providing information that can support more targeted therapeutic decisions and more appropriate use of antimicrobials.

Integrated into the QIAstat-Dx platform, the panels combine in a single workflow sample preparation, molecular analysis and automatic interpretation of results, simplifying different stages of the laboratory process.
