Quilaban promotes second clinical session dedicated to QuantiFERON® CMV

Quilaban

The initiative brought together healthcare professionals in Porto to discuss the clinical application of QuantiFERON® CMV and its contribution to more personalised management of immunocompromised patients.

Quilaban promoted, on 15th June, the second clinical session dedicated to QIAGEN’s QuantiFERON® CMV test. The initiative took place at the Immunology Laboratory of ULS Santo António, in Porto, bringing together healthcare professionals for a moment of knowledge sharing and discussion around the assessment of specific cellular immunity against Cytomegalovirus (CMV).

The session featured the participation of Dr. Julian de la Torre-Cisneros and Dr. Sara Castisan, who shared their experience of implementing this solution in Spain. Throughout the event, aspects related to the integration of the test into laboratory practice and its impact on the clinical management of immunocompromised patients, particularly in the context of transplantation, were addressed.

QuantiFERON® CMV is an in vitro diagnostic test that assesses T lymphocyte response to Cytomegalovirus, and is particularly useful in monitoring immunocompromised patients and in the context of transplantation. Through the assessment of specific cellular immunity against CMV, it supports clinical decisions related to reactivation risk stratification, definition of prophylaxis strategies, post-transplant monitoring and maintenance or discontinuation of antiviral therapy.

With this event, Quilaban continues to promote proximity and scientific training initiatives, providing moments of knowledge sharing, contact with international experiences and discussion of innovative approaches. In this regard, these sessions contribute to increasingly personalised management of transplant patients.
